What’s the first word that comes to mind when you hear social media marketing? The other day, over 200 brands answered this question for us, and here are the responses we got the most:
- Ugh (this was by far the most popular response)
- Doesn’t work
- F*ck meta
We’re most frustrated by the fact that the stupid algorithm is always changing and that we are being told to post so much – these two factors pile on top of how much time content, social, and digital marketing already take, and it’s making us feel exhausted, burnt out, and overwhelmed.
Let me first say this: I hear you. The only reason I’ve stuck around in this industry so long is because of the joy I feel when my clients realize that they don’t need to spend so much time on social media and that they can actually win while they play to their own unique strengths.
The same survey reported that the #1 thing most of us want is a holistic digital marketing strategy that plays to your strengths and drives sustainable sales. AKA we want real business growth, and we want it on our own terms. We’re tired of being told we “have to” post every day, lip synch for Reels, or be on TikTok. We want to create a strategy that’s customized to our goals and our strengths (for example, if we have stronger writing talent than video creation talent, we want to leverage that to grow instead of going down a rabbit hole of things we’re not good at or don’t particularly enjoy). For the record, this is 100% fair and feasible.
The reason social media marketing sucks the most is because of the widely perpetuated notion that you need to overhaul your strategy every single time the algorithm changes. This is a complete lie perpetuated by an industry that feeds like a parasite on a toxic news cycle.
~I’m sorry, I said it.~
We just want to know how to drive real, efficient business growth with these platforms, in a way that feels good and is right for our business.
I have been creating high-performance content strategies for social media with the exact same framework and process for the past 12 years, for hundreds of clients, across dozens of industries. When I tell you that every single one has delivered brand growth within the first 90 days, this truth is the bedrock of my entire career. Do some of the tactics change? Sure, we experiment with about 30% of our content on a monthly basis according to emerging formats.
But the formula for taking your target customer’s mindset and your best brand story and turning it into a content strategy that will cut through the noise to systematically grow, convert, and retain a growing loyal customer base is timeless, based on psychology, and is always going to work when you do it thoughtfully.
We’re hosting a free, efficient, value-packed training that will show you how to create a holistic digital content strategy that works on every platform, outlasts algorithm updates for sustainable sales, and grows your brand for years to come.
